Daily Briefing: Friday, Oct. 23

Allan Tucker’s mother sues the city; 288 more apartments break ground at Heritage at Old Town; no right on red for all of Old Town?

Alexandria, Va. news and information you won’t find anywhere else.

Good morning, Alexandria.

On what would have been Allan Tucker’s 34th birthday, his mother went to federal court. Her lawsuit says two officers drove past the hospital he asked for and left him in a patrol car outside the jail until he stopped moving. The city hasn’t responded, and the review it promised has been stalled since the policing auditor quit.

It’s a big weekend: Del Ray’s Halloween parade turns 30 on Sunday, Lost Boy’s Fall Fest and the Choral Society’s season opener are Saturday, and the decorated-house vote closes Saturday night. Tonight the 7-0 Titans are at Robinson, and today is the last day to register to vote.
