ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A former senior finance executive at the Alexandria-based cybersecurity firm Invictus International Consulting has been indicted on 12 felony counts of embezzlement, accused of charging more than $4.5 million in personal expenses to her company credit card over a six-year period, the Alexandria Commonwealth's Attorney's Office announced.
The Alexandria Grand Jury returned the indictment May 18 against Sharon Lee, 47, of Loudoun County, according to a release from Commonwealth's Attorney Bryan Porter. Lee served as Invictus's director of finance and later as its vice president of finance — positions the office said helped her conceal the alleged conduct.
Prosecutors allege Lee charged unauthorized personal expenses to her company card from January 2019 through December 2024. The alleged expenses included luxury apparel, vacation resorts, car payments and more than $150,000 on gambling, according to the release. Invictus estimates the total at more than $4.5 million.
The case began as an internal investigation by Invictus and was completed by the Alexandria Police Department.
Lee has not been convicted of any crime, and the indictment contains only allegations. Under the law, she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Invictus International Consulting, headquartered at 66 Canal Center Plaza in Old Town North, provides cybersecurity, intelligence analysis and engineering services to national security and defense clients. Founded in 2014 by military veterans, the company was acquired by Red River in 2025.
Each count of embezzlement carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The case will be tried in Alexandria Circuit Court, with a trial date to be set at an upcoming docket call.
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said prosecutors are barred under Virginia State Bar rules from discussing evidence, trial strategy or work product before trial.
