ALEXANDRIA, Va - Alex Hillyard, 24, won the men's PNC Alexandria Half Marathon on Sunday in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 45 seconds, while Halle Gill, 26, led the women's field in 1:21:03, according to preliminary results posted on the event's website.
The race took runners through Old Town and along the George Washington Memorial Parkway under overcast skies. Sunday's race was the second running of the event in its current format. The PNC Alexandria Half evolved last year from the long-running PNC Parkway Classic, which began in 1984. As of Sunday evening, race organizers had not released official results, finisher counts or information about a 2026 beneficiary.
Runners stepped off at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Fairfax and Wythe streets in temperatures around 47 degrees.
Hillyard finished 25 seconds ahead of men's runner-up Michael Conway, 33, who clocked 1:08:10. Scott Doescher, 32, was third in 1:11:35.
Gill led the women's field by 45 seconds over Rachel Cassidy, 38, who finished in 1:21:48. Olivia Fernflores, 23, was third in 1:25:46.
In the 5K, Cody Hodgins, 36, won the men's race in 16:05, finishing 30 seconds ahead of 14-year-old Nico Diffenbach, who placed second overall in 16:35. Gabin Toulet, 24, was third in 17:21. Carmen Garson-Shumway, 29, was the top women's finisher in 18:06, followed by Eliana Ornelas, 25, in 18:30 and Linnea Shapter, 29, in 19:12.
Both races finished at North Union and Oronoco streets, followed by a post-race festival at Oronoco Bay Park. The Kids Dash, for children 12 and under, started at 10:30 a.m. at Union and King streets.
The 2025 debut of the rebranded race drew nearly 5,800 participants and raised more than $20,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Alexandria. The race is produced by Pacers Running and sponsored by PNC Bank.
