ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Rosemont Citizens Association will hold a special meeting Nov. 4 and vote on a position to send to City Council on the Russell Road Safe Routes to School project.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 100 W. Luray Ave. Members should expect presentations on the current proposal, on alternatives and on community concerns, followed by the vote, the association said.

The association's regular calendar would have put the question after the fact. President Jol Silversmith wrote in the September newsletter that the last general meeting of the year would be Nov. 18, four days after the Council hearing. Neither the newsletter nor the notice says who called the special meeting; under the constitution, the president may call one himself or must call one at the request of two elected officers.

Council takes up the project Saturday, Nov. 14, at a public hearing running from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center, 4850 Mark Center Drive. It will consider three appeals and review the full design before making a final decision.
