A new independent preschool opens on Duke Street

Alexandria Schoolhouse takes children ages 2 to 5 in multi-age classrooms and caps its full-day program at 12. Nine children are enrolled.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Alexandria Schoolhouse, an independent preschool at 1429A Duke St., held an open house for the community on Saturday.

Nine children are enrolled, and the school is aiming for at least 15, according to the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, which is promoting it as one of its newest members.

The Saturday event drew family, friends, enrolled families, and neighbors, the school said. Art Club VA ran activities for children during what the school called the grand reveal, and the real estate firms Sullivan Brownell Partners and Christina Varner Real Estate sponsored the food. Chamber representatives attended.
