Alexandria Democrats adopt resolution urging APD to investigate federal agents who break the law

The party committee wants council and the city manager to put the city's stated commitments into written police policy, and asks the attorney general for guidance on the duty to intervene

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Alexandria Democratic Committee has adopted a resolution calling on the Police Department to investigate and, where warranted, prosecute crimes committed by federal immigration agents in the city, and urging City Council and the city manager to turn the city's commitments into written policy and officer training.

The committee passed the measure at its monthly meeting Sept. 10, held on Zoom, along with a second resolution congratulating Gov. Abigail Spanberger and Democratic legislators on firearm laws enacted this year.

Neither carries legal force. The Alexandria Democratic Committee is the city's local Democratic Party organization, operating under the national and state party plans, and chaired by Jon DeNunzio.
