ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Alexandria's three outdoor pools open for the season Saturday, May 23, and residents have until May 25 to lock in a 15% discount on season passes, the city's Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities announced.
Memorial Pool, Warwick Pool and Old Town Pool will all open Saturday, along with the free Potomac Yard Park Interactive Fountain. Resident teen passes for swimmers ages 13 to 17 are $39 for the full season.
Passes can be purchased online at alexandriava.gov/Aquatics, in person at any recreation center or at the pools themselves once they open.
Where to swim
Memorial Pool, at the Charles Houston Recreation Center at 901 Wythe St., is geared toward families with young children, with a beach entry and therapeutic-friendly amenities. Free onsite parking is available. Opening weekend hours run 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. daily from May 23 through May 25.
Warwick Pool, at 3301 Landover St., features a six-lane lap pool, an accessible ramp and beach entry, with a playground nearby. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on May 23 and 24, and 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on May 25.
Old Town Pool, at 1609 Cameron St., offers a large lap pool and diving well, along with a nearby picnic area, playground and courts. The smaller training pool will be closed for the 2026 season. Hours are noon to 7:45 p.m. on May 23 and 24, and 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on May 25.
Free splashing at Potomac Yard
The Potomac Yard Park Interactive Fountain, located between the park's playgrounds, is free and open daily. The fountain features 36 water jets, interactive spray sequences and smart sensors that adjust water height based on conditions, plus enhanced UV water treatment.
Fountain hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, then 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through mid-October.
