ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Gov. Abigail Spanberger has appointed four Alexandria residents to state boards and councils, part of a round of appointments announced Friday covering dozens of panels across the commonwealth.
Damien Cabezas, president and chief executive of Community Connections, was named to the Addiction Recovery Council. The council advises the state on recovery services and supports.
Barbara Johnson, an attorney with BLJohnsonLaw PLLC and Potter & Murdock, was appointed to the Fort Monroe Authority Board of Trustees, which oversees the former Army post in Hampton.
Jaime Christopher Pierce, circuit court services manager in the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia, was named to the Virginia LGBTQ+ Advisory Board.
Nicholas Devereaux, federal affairs lead at Wing Aviation, was reappointed to the Aerospace Advisory Council, which advises the governor and General Assembly on aviation and unmanned systems.
Also appointed was Marian Marquez, senior vice president at the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, named to the Committee of Business Development and Marketing at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership. Marquez lives in Arlington.
In announcing the appointments, Spanberger said the appointees would use their expertise to help their neighbors and take on leadership roles across the state.
