ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Alexandria police are asking for the public's help identifying a man they say stabbed a sleeping man multiple times early Tuesday in Arlandria.
An adult man was sleeping on the ground near the parking lot of the Tiger Market at 3903 Mount Vernon Ave. when another man approached and stabbed him at about 3:20 a.m., according to police.
EMS called officers to the scene at about 4:08 a.m. for a report of unknown trouble, police said. The victim told them the stabbing had happened an hour or two earlier.
Police said the suspect ran from the area, crossing Mount Vernon Avenue and continuing onto Executive Avenue toward West Glebe Road.
The case is being investigated as felony aggravated malicious wounding.
Police described the suspect as an adult man roughly 20 to 30 years old, about 180 pounds, with long black hair and a fair complexion. They released a photograph.
Police did not release the victim's condition.
