ALEXANDRIA, Va. - ALIVE!’s 45th annual StepALIVE! Walkathon raised $151,482 for Alexandria residents facing food insecurity and housing instability, the nonprofit announced Tuesday.

More than 350 walkers took part in the event Sunday, Oct. 18, at George Washington Middle School, according to ALIVE!. The total exceeded the organization’s $145,000 anniversary goal and marked the second consecutive year the walk topped $100,000. ALIVE! said the 2026 total set a new fundraising record for the event, which raised $125,000 in 2025.

“StepALIVE! is a powerful reminder of what this community can accomplish together,” said Jennifer Ayers, executive director of ALIVE!. “Every step taken and every dollar raised helps ensure our neighbors have access to fresh groceries, housing support, and emergency assistance when they need it most.”
