ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Alexandria City Public Schools projects its operating fund spending will reach $392.3 million in FY 2028, about $16.9 million more than the $375.4 million it expects to have, including money drawn from fund balance, according to the presentation prepared for the division's community budget forum Wednesday.
The five-year forecast in the presentation shows the difference growing each year, to about $75.2 million in FY 2032. The slide does not print the difference, describe how it would be closed or state the assumptions behind the projections.
ACPS billed the forum at the Alexandria City High School Minnie Howard Campus as a chance for families, staff, and community members to "learn about our current budget and future priorities, ask questions and engage directly with division leaders."
The Alexandria Brief was covering another meeting and did not attend. This story is based on the presentation, which is dated Oct. 14 and credited to the ACPS Financial Services Department, and on the division's announcement of the event. It does not describe what was said at the forum.
