Officer Siddiqui named Police Officer of the Year; Sgt. Holden honored twice as ceremony recognizes officers, professional staff and Islamic Relief USA

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Alexandria Police Department recognized officers, detectives and professional staff at its annual awards ceremony Wednesday, with Sgt. Holden taking home two of the night's top honors.

Holden was named both Employee of the Year — sharing the recognition with Officer Mishler and Detective Parker — and Sworn Supervisor of the Year. Officer Siddiqui was named Police Officer of the Year, and Detective Vanderah was named Detective of the Year. Sgt. Mastrostefano received the Chief of Police Award.

The ceremony, supported by the Alexandria Police Foundation, also honored professional staff and recognized a community partner.

The full list of honorees, as announced by the department:

  • Employees of the Year: Sgt. Holden, Officer Mishler, Detective Parker
  • Rising Star, Sworn: Officer Redfield
  • Professional Staff Member of the Year: Ms. Hyndman
  • Rising Star, Professional: Ms. Heite
  • Sworn Supervisor of the Year: Sgt. Holden
  • Community Partnership Award: Islamic Relief USA
  • Detective of the Year: Detective Vanderah
  • Police Officer of the Year: Officer Siddiqui
  • Professional Staff Supervisor of the Year: Parking Enforcement Supervisor Mr. Randolph
  • Chief of Police Award: Sgt. Mastrostefano

In a Facebook post Wednesday evening announcing the honorees, the department said: "We honor the best of the best ... Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to service set the standard and strengthen our entire community."

The Alexandria Police Foundation, a nonprofit that supports department initiatives the city budget does not fund, underwrote the ceremony.
