ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The RUN! GEEK! RUN! 5K raised $45,000 for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, money the nonprofit will use for college and career advising and a new scholarship for an Alexandria City High School senior.
Race director Rita Foss and Eugene, the race's bespectacled mascot, delivered an oversized check to SFA staff and school administrators at the high school Oct. 27, the SFA said in a press release and a Facebook post.
The money came from the race's 19th running Sept. 27. The SFA was this year's beneficiary.
