ALEXANDRIA, Va. —Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and the city is celebrating in a big way with dozens of themed events planned this weekend.
Lee Street closes between Prince and Green streets from about 4:30 to 9 p.m. for trick-or-treaters; Lee-Fendall House runs its Haunted Lantern Tours Friday and Saturday; and there are rec center parties Friday night at Charles Houston, Patrick Henry, Mount Vernon, and Ramsay. Saturday brings Fall-O-Ween at John Carlyle Square, the Floating Pumpkin Patch at Chinquapin, and Pumpkin Palooza at Lee-Fendall, with bar crawls and costume parties after dark.
It’s also the last weekend of early voting. The registrar’s office and Beatley Central Library are open Friday and Saturday; Saturday is the final day before Tuesday’s election. Sunday, the clocks go back an hour, and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria’s Paws in the Park, rained out earlier this month, gets its makeup date at Oronoco Bay Park at 11 a.m.
Here’s a look at everything on the calendar this weekend; enjoy!
