ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Alexandria kicks off an action-packed weekend as FOX 5 broadcasts live from Waterfront Park Friday morning from 7-11 a.m., featuring World Cup and America 250 coverage as the city welcomes summer heat with highs approaching 95 degrees.

Friday brings live music and community gatherings throughout Old Town, while Saturday heats up with the inaugural Commodore to Commodore 9-mile run connecting Dupont Circle to Old Town—a fundraiser for September's 9/11 Remembrance Run with $30 registration including beer at both ends. The debut Best of the West End Festival at Cameron Station features 50-plus vendors, the Passport Auto showcase, and live music, while the free Flavors & Sounds of Croatia celebration at Waterfront Park offers authentic Croatian food and music.

Sunday cools slightly with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms as foodies gather for the 17th Annual Taste of Del Ray at Mount Vernon Recreation Center. Culture lovers can explore a World War II walking tour at Lee-Fendall House, catch Sunday chamber music—returning for its 36th summer at The Lyceum with 12 concerts running through Aug. 30—or enjoy Our House: The Music of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young at The Birchmere.
