ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Twenty-five years after the attacks, the city holds its 9/11 remembrance ceremony from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Alexandria Police Department headquarters.

Friday is the driest of the three days once early showers clear — mostly cloudy and 83 degrees. Saturday turns wet in the afternoon, with a 40% chance of showers starting around 2 p.m. and a 70% chance overnight. Sunday is warmer at 87 degrees, with a chance of storms after 2 p.m.

The hourlong ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at police headquarters on Wheeler Avenue, with a presentation of colors and remarks from Mayor Alyia Gaskins and public safety officials.

Participants practice parting, ponytails and three-part braids on mannequin heads at the Alexandria taproom on Sept. 13. The 90-minute session costs $50 and includes a beer.
