ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Alexandria Days, a three-day celebration of Old Town's independently owned shops, returns Friday and runs through Sunday.
The event is put on by the Old Town Boutique Community, a group of more than 30 independently owned stores. Organizers say participating shops will offer discounts, gifts with purchase and in-store events, including styling services, tastings, trunk shows and hands-on activities. Store hours vary.
Shoppers can pick up a printed passport and map or download one, then collect stamps at participating stores. Those who take part are entered to win one of two shopping sprees at the boutique of their choice.
The event began in 1959 as a collaboration between Old Town merchants and city leaders, according to the group.
Participating stores sell apparel, accessories, jewelry, home goods, beauty products, children's clothing, food, wine and gifts.
